Animals in the water


Small flowing and still waters are ideal natural spaces of experience and the most biologically diverse habitats of our landscape. No other habitats offer a very small area so many different animal species habitat. Work with water and animals together usually encounters great interest and enthusiasm among students. Rivers form a natural network of creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes. Therefore it is not a problem for the most students to conduct water surveys in closer area - even in big cities. Another possibility is the school pond.

Main aims of the actions 

  • get to know the biodiversity in standing and flowing waters
  • identify the adaptation of aquatic organisms
  • learn about the food relationships in bodies of water
  • understand relationships between biodiversity and water quality (saprobic index)
  • recognize the importance of water pollution and pollution control
